A Cake Becomes a Tradition
My favorite cake as a child was chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I requested it every year for my birthday. I never got it though. I always got chocolate cake with white frosting. My mom's reasoning was that she didn't like chocolate frosting. I think by the age of 10 I knew I would always make the cake my kids requested. Wouldn't you know my daughter always requested chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (she added chocolate sprinkles). And now, her oldest daughter, Grace, has requested chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (and sprinkles) as her birthday cake. I was thrilled to make it. I love things that cross generations.
